Prior to the season, I had high hopes for Mike Martz in Chicago, but I also had high fears that the experiment could end in disaster. The preseason looked awful, leading to a lack of hope on my part come opening day.
Then on opening day the Bears successfully flung it all over the field, then upset the Cowboys and Packers to start 3-0. Talk raged that Martz would undoubtedly be gone in 2011 as he would most certainly be hired by another team as their head coach.
Now the Bears have lost 2 of their last 3, and the losses always come in ugly fashion, it seems. Up next is a crucial home game against Washington, then the bye week. It will be important for the Bears to bounce back here.
Today in the Chicago Sun Times, reporter Neil Hayes writes that a former scout who has worked with Martz in various places has his money on a bad ending for Martz in Chicago. Interesting article, give it a read.
