What a nutjob I am. At least I can say I realized how wrong I was before someone else points it out to me. Uh, the New England Patriots this year blew out this record. From 2003-2007, the Patriots have a record of 66-14. That blows away the Bears record of 62-17. And I was wrong in the first place counting 63 wins for those Bears in those 5 years, it's 62. So this one falls to two teams.

Thanks for all the comments. Just an update here. The Colts lost, so the 1984-1988 Bears and the 2003-2007 Colts are tied for most wins in 5 seasons with 63. If the Colts have a 13-win season next year, they'll break it then.

'85 Bears 40
'07 Pats 28

The Patriots get 4 td passes from Brady, but even though the pats 'd stops Payton and Gault, Suhey runs wild, and Gentry makes big plays, while Moorehead gets clutch first downs. Game is clinched when under a heavy blitz, Brady throws an int right into Otis Wilson's hands and he returns it 46 yards for the td with 46 seconds left. Brady gets sacked 5 times and is knocked to the ground on almost every pass.

I wonder if Mr. Parcels found any holes in the 46 defense when the Bears annihilated his team in the 1985 playoffs.

Go Titans!

Happy New Year CBH. The last two weeks of '07 were a lot of fun, anyway. One good thing about the off-season: we no longer suffer the losers who call Sunday morning football talk shows to help decide their fantasy lineups ...

Lately, it seems to me like the respect for the 1985 Bears as well as their run in the 80s in general is becoming less and less. On ESPN Bill Parcels has been matching up this year's Patriots against the other great teams in football history and the other day he compared how they'd fare against the 85 Bears. He said that the Patriots would win hands down, that the 46 defense had too many holes, Randy Moss would exploit the secondary, and the Patriots defense would contain walter Payton, thus eliminating Willie Gault and the passing game. I hope the Patriots choke big time.
