Bob LeGere writes in his blog for the Daily Herald that legendary sure-handed receiver Tom Waddle is “impressed” by current Bears receiver Rashied Davis. “Technically, he’s the best receiver on the roster,” Waddle said. He then went on to praise Davis’ route-running, speed and body control.
Thankfully, LeGere did get Waddle to say “but none of that matters if he can’t catch the ball.” Whew, I thought Tommy had gone insane there for a minute. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Davis seems like a great person. He had several huge catches in 2006 that may very well have won games for the Bears. But unless he has cured his 2 season-long case of the dropsies, I don’t want to see Davis playing anything other than special teams or 6th receiver ever again.
In other news, Barry Rozner writes that while fans flock to camp to see Jay Cutler, the real excitement is on the lines and watching for defensive improvement.
Brad Biggs talks about the $97 million contract signed by Eli Manning and its ramifications on Cutler’s next deal.
And after hearing nothing but rave reviews on Zack Bowman’s performance at camp, now he has a hamstring injury. Great production then injuries seem to be the story of Bowman’s career.
