Five Weeks, Two Arrests

Hopefully this will add up to one release of a disappointing running back?

In case you missed it, Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson was arrested Saturday morning after 3 a.m. for drunk driving, after he allegedly ran a red light in Austin, TX.

And in case anyone else forgot, this comes on the heels of an event May 5th, when Benson was charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest in the same area. Since that first arrest, Benson has maintained his innocence, claiming that the police target him.

I’ve been waiting for Benson and his attorney to come out on this one swinging, saying Benson did nothing wrong while he was on the street at 3 a.m. and that the police are fabricating the charges. Close-the attorney says his client “performed well on the field sobriety tests and a video of the event will exonerate his client.”

Exonerated of criminal charges or not, I hope the Bears exonerate themselves of having Cedric Benson on their roster.  Forget about being a bad person, the release should come for being a bad running back.  Hope Ginny and Mike feel good about the $18 million of McCaskey money Benson will always have.

  1. According to shortie on Chicago Sun Times site, Benson has been released. I also have an employee here in Wisconsin who just shouted “Benson is gone!”

  2. I was running behind on this one-trapped in the car with Elmo playing for 2 hours when this happened. Hurray! Thanks sis.
