Eve-of-Camp Stories

I can’t believe that, today is the eve of the start of the 2010 Chicago Bears training camp.  I love the start of football, but hate to know that summer will soon be coming to a close.

Over the past two days I’ve read two very good articles worth noting.  Yesterday was Sean Jensen’s piece on Bears guard Johan Asiata and his upbringing and motivations.  Very interesting.  I sure hope he will be a revelation at left guard.

And today, I read Dan Pompei’s article, stating that this Bears team having the potential to be the best in recent memory-including 2006.  Wow.  Pompei is definitely a veteran who has covered the Bears and the NFL since the 1980′s, so you have to trust his opinion somewhat.  I can’t honestly call him a cheerleader for the Bears, but articles are usually positive.  Let’s hope he’s closer to being right than wrong.

  1. Just the opposite about football season down here in Tampa. 1) It’s great because football is back. 2) No more 93 degree days 3) More outside dining 4) Finally cool enough to make some chili.

It seems the Bears do well whenever people count them out, let’s hope that’s true this year. VegasInsider has the Bears at 30-1 odds to win the Super Bowl. I believe they were 15-1 last year, might be worth a few bucks!

  2. I’d take the year-round heat in a heartbeat, Perno. Enjoy the football!
