Comments on: Cutler Bounces Back Chicago Bears History Blog by Mon, 20 Apr 2015 22:25:11 +0000 hourly 1 By: sven Mon, 21 Sep 2009 20:07:17 +0000 The whole team played with great spirit. Look at the hits they took and the plays the non-starters made: Davis, AP, … Look at the whole D effort, I mean who remembers Ward and Holmes now. And Bowman is not injured! Now the O-line has to get the running game going though.

By: Perno Mon, 21 Sep 2009 18:03:43 +0000 Cutler looked good, I loved his TD throw to Knox, it was like an MJ fadeaway off his heels — and it was still a bullet.

As for Forte, the man needs holes to run through. AP had a huge hole and took advantage of it. The Bears O-line is horrible, I wonder how Omiyale fared? Beekman was good last year, they need him back in.

By: Scott Mon, 21 Sep 2009 17:29:21 +0000 Yeah Forte needs to get going and hopefully he can do that against Seattle. If Hasselbeck does play Sunday it makes it a bit more tougher for the Bears, but with him hurting, I think the Bears can take that game. The Bears can also learn from watching Frank Gore run all over them.

As far as Minnesota, they play San Francisco in what should be a defensive game. If Singletary has really revamped that defense, they should be able to somewhat hold Adrian Peterson. We’ll see though. Minnesota is at home so it wont be an easy game for San Francisco. After that the Vikings play the Packers at home. The way Benson ran all over the Packers, I expect Peterson to have a similar showing.

By: Jeff Mon, 21 Sep 2009 17:12:22 +0000 Now they need to commission a huge mural of Cutler crossing the Rubicon. Or maybe the Allegheny? Yes, that was me on Big Brother. Thanks!

Seriously … we’ll look for 100 yards on the ground out of Forte next week.

By: terrill Mon, 21 Sep 2009 16:29:44 +0000 well, knox looked fantastic. i wideout that stepped up! woo hoo, looked like a non punk version of desean jackson from philly. forte is gonna have to get back to form here or our boy cutler will be running for his life in the next 14 games. the steelers game was all jay.

By: Mark L. Mon, 21 Sep 2009 15:39:20 +0000 Jeff, I agree with the sickening feeling seeing Benson run for 140 against the Packers O’ Fudge.
I think our running game will be aces. A darn good Titans team didn’t run for squat against Pitt. The Seahawks game will make you feel better about our running game.

P.S. I loved you on Big Brother!!! Wrong Jeff? Sorry.

By: Mark L. Mon, 21 Sep 2009 15:35:51 +0000 I have spent all week defending Jay Cutler and saying he would be fine and the media would be once again hanging from his jock.
Call me NOSTRA FREAKING DAMUS because all my predictions came true.
Cutler looked good. BEARS WON!!!The Bears D looked good sans Urlacher. And the media have puckered up, buttercup to Jay Cutler’s hindquarters once again.
(Is it just me or does JC’s face look alot like the busts of Julius Caesar?”) Holy crap….and his initials are JC JULIUS CAESAR…………. JAY CUTLER! Are there any more wonderful JC’s out there?
..JEEEEE…..nope ain’t goin there.
(This is my parody of the Chicago Sports writers)
Anyway. My biggest gripe and fear before the season was that da secondary would give up major yards and would stink up the place 3 consecutive years. I am proud to say that The BEARS have given up an average of 17.5 points per contest so far. (Not bad for giving the ball away 4 times in week 1). Really not bad considering da Bears have faced two of the best offenses in the entire league!

Let me just say this. the media needs to become as level headed as Lovie Smith and not get too high or too low on Cutler.
HE IS THE FRANCHISE, but so was Brett Favre in Green Gay and I solemnly believe Julius Caesar or should I say Jay Cutler has a little Favre in him judging from week one.

By: Stephen Mon, 21 Sep 2009 15:00:09 +0000 Forte has gotten the crap beat out of him, a certain someone was supposed to be getting an increased workload to help take some of the pressure of off Forte.. Jones being out really hurts us

By: Jeff Mon, 21 Sep 2009 13:39:47 +0000 That was a great game. Cutler sure did rebound. (btw, I did say he would.) The D held together without No. 54, did a fantastic job of forcing those field goal attempts in the crappy weather. And on the other side Gould did what he always does.

But is Forte okay, or is it too much to expect him to have a good day against the Steelers? It’s just two weeks in and I hate to say it but — “Sophomore Slump”? Peterson looked better. And then seeing Benson rack up 140 against the Packers just gives a sick feeling in my gut.
