Chicago Bears Activity Heating Up…

I guess there is a lot of clamoring from Bears fans that the team needs to jump into the fray and land some big names as other teams are doing.  Let’s remember, a lot of the teams out there that are spending big money are going to regret doing so.  And unlike last year, there is again a salary cap, so money has to be spent wisely.

I don’t have links to everything, but today’s activity:

Here’s your big splash, and it officially ends Brad Maynard’s tenure, as the Bears have signed a new punter to a five year contract.

They have cut TE Brandon Manumaleuna, Greg Olsen is apparently on the block, and have reportedly signed TE Matt Spaeth. Manumaleuna earned $6 million in his one year missing blocks. Wow.

The Detroit Lions have signed WR Rashied Davis. Heck of a motor on special teams, his hands will NOT be missed as a receiver.

The San Francisco 49ers have made an offer to C Olin Kreutz. The Bears’ offer to Kreutz may have been insulting. We’ll see how this one plays out.

  1. THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE GOT TO BE THE CHEAPEST ORGAINIZATION IN THE NFL—WHAT THE F%&* ARE THEY THINKING GETTING RID OF GREG OLSEN..FOR GOD’S SAKE, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING —JERRY THE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS ARE IN YOUR DIVISION—THE MACASKY’S SHOULD JUST SEEL THE BEARS TO AN OWNER WHO IS SERIOUS ABOUT WINNING. THESE MOVES (OR LACK THEREOF) ARE INSULTING TO THE MOST LOYAL FANBASE IN THE NFL. THE ENRIRE FRONT OFFICE OF THE BEARS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. STOP BEING SO STINGY AND SPEND THE MONEY REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS TEAM COMPETETIVE.

  2. The Bears must think that Kellen Davis is ready to start.
