Cedric on Benson

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune spoke to my friend Cedric Benson this week.  Benson, in his own words, summed up why I hated the selection of the Texas back the moment I saw it happen in 2005.

Speaking of his desire to be signed by another team for the 2008 season, Benson says: “I got myself in good shape, changed some things about myself,” he said. “I wasn’t going to let the running game be a question this season.”

So there you have it.  In his own words, he let the Bears running game be a question last season by his actions, wasn’t in good shape, and thus the Bears finished 32nd in that category.  He took his $18 million guaranteed, and that’s all that mattered to him.

Good riddance Cedric.  I hope with your own words you have further dissuaded any other team from being interested in you this season.

  1. Maybe if Ben$on demands 16 million they will take him seriously? Im sure he convinced enough that he knows how to party.
