I used to agree that a kick returner will never make/break an organization - then Devin Hester came along. He's not in the same league as anyone that has ever played the position, EVERY TIME he touches the ball on a PR or KR it may go for a touchdown, and there's a pretty good chance of it! The Bears need Hester back in camp, but not at #1 WR money, somewhere between Randle El and Berrian (from David Haugh's article today).

He is only making $450,000 next year. He deserves more than that, considering that he led the team in touchdowns over the last two years. There is no one to compare him to in the history of the NFL and that is going to be the problem with contract negotiations. He was the most important offensive weapon because he made himself into it. Fourteen times in the past two seasons the offense was getting suited up and ready to go back onto the field, only to turn around and sit back on the bench with seven extra points added to the score. Almost once every other game, utterly ridiculous.
