To whom it may concern;
Several things disturbed me abopt this article, and the scenerios included in it.
1. According to the storyline in Brian's Song, the movie made about Piccolo's battle with cancer, Piccolo played a large part in motivating Sayers during his rehabilitation. How much of this Hollywood portrayal of the rehab is true is debatable, but regardless Sayers was ready to play in 1969.
what is the prupose of this comment. if it is not true I suppose there is just cause. but to say the story could not be corrabated, but to make that comment is the casue of the erroding fabric of Americaand everything it stands for.
2. Gayle sayers number has been retired, maybe the bears should think about retiring 41 for Piccolo as well.

I was a ten year old football crazy kid when Gale Sayers started his rookie year. But, I can honestly say that there has NEVER been another football running back since that has excited me more. I still have mental pictures and can smile remembering some of his greatest runs. In terms of excitement, he was the greatest (and Reggie Bush does not compare).

Thanks Gale you were unequivocally the best!!!!!!!

I am sure most of or all of the blogs that are written here are mostly guys commenting about football techniques. But I am a female who has seen "Brian's Song" a dozen times and I am more interested each and every time I see it. I wish I knew that the movie was how it really was between Brian Picolo and Gale Sayers. I am sure they had that greatness between them and I want to believe it was how it was betrayed in the movie. Every time I see the movie, I feel a stronger desire to be a better person and accomplish more. I think it would be an honor to actually meet Gale Sayers in person. I guess living in Utah and him living in Indiana, there is not much chance but one can always hope. Thanks to Gale Sayers for letting us be a part of how it was for him and Brian Picolo. It is a testimony of their honor between the two of them. Thanks Mr. Sayers.

I was privileged to meet Mr. Sayers at a card show at the Gibraltar Trade Center in the Detroit area in 2001. I was proud to tell him of how he inspired me.
After reading Brian Piccolo, A Short Season in 1978 when I was 15, I discovered the power of prayer and have since found the Lord.
It took me 23 years to finally meet Mr. Sayers and to tell him of how much he has inspired me. Out of all the celebrities who I have met at shows, he is the the one I am proudest of meeting.
God Bless You Gale
